Saturday, April 26, 2025, 1-3pm: It’s International Pipe Organ Day! Try out (yes, that means you get to play) the pipe organ to help Victoria become the Pipe Organ Capital of Canada by setting a record for the most people playing a pipe organ that day! Lawrence will share knowledge and raise awareness of the pipe organ, its music and the Royal Canadian College of Organists training programs and scholarships.
This is a FREE event, so bring your kids or grandkids to create some awesome sounds! For more information, please visit www.rcco-victoria.org to see what other pipe organs in town are also available for you to explore.
To celebrate International Organ Day on April 26th, 2025 the RCCO hosts
A Pipe Organ Playing Record Attempt
The Victoria Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) is inviting anyone interested in the pipe organ to see an organ up close, learn about it, hear the various sounds it can make, and – most importantly - play it!
Simultaneous FREE day-time events are held on Saturday, April 26, from 1-3pm. Locations of host churches are noted on the reverse of this page. There are also some evening events for a nominal fee.
Volunteers will welcome and share information with you, answer your questions and more importantly, give you a chance to play a unique organ at each of the participating venues. If you have no experience or even a little keyboard experience, you’re invited to bring a piece of music and play your favourite piece on the instrument or just put your fingers on the keys and make the pipes sound! Play what you love!
You can bring your camera or smartphone and have a picture taken of you at the organ console(s).
By playing, you will be participating in our attempt to establish a record for the greatest number of people playing a pipe organ on International Organ Day and establish VICTORIA as the Organ Playing CAPITAL of Canada! www.rcco-victoria.org
Saturday, April 26th, 2025 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
